facilities
from the golf course that overlook the bay, the brand new 3rd generation artificial grass indoor football centre, the 4 international indoor tennis courts, gym, indoor pool, retail, hair and beauty, bar and restaurant, adventure centre ...
But what really makes Les
Ormes
is its people. Les
Ormes
is a mix match of several
nationalities
; what it's taught me over ten years is that nationality is really far less important that personality. Its the things we all have in common that stand out more than the differences. Its the commitment to our jobs, customers and colleagues that stands out.
Last weekend there was a charity indoor football event.
Mateusz
from reception offered to help organise and referee for them in his own time and then afterwards did some overtime hours helping out in the busy restaurant.
In the last couple of weeks our public grounds have had some
extensive
TLC whilst many of the lodges have been externally repainted by Pinto to keep them in 5* standard even though they are only just over 2 years old. The interiors were repainted during the winter. It is only by doing more than we think we need to that will keep us ahead of the game. Nothing bugs me more on holiday that paying good money to receive a tatty accommodation offering.
As part of my research prior to building our self catering units here I visited many sites in the UK and I have to say many
disappointed
me. Whereas some years ago I stayed in a self catering unit in the USA and under the bed was a place card that said "we clean here to". Excellent. I think we are lucky at Les
Ormes
, and this is a nationality issue, in that our service team led by
Manuella
(married to a Welsh man!) supported by her lovely sister Ana, seem to just have higher standards of cleanliness that
Brits
. I guess it might be due to their hotter climate but there's no doubt they have higher standards. To me clean self catering is the most important priority, more so than what gadgets are in the unit.
For me the ease of booking comes pretty high up the list, I hate wasting time and fumbling my way to make a booking. Currently our bookings come from a mixture of direct and through agents. Virtually all customer issues have arisen from agent booked customers. I think this may be due to the approach as an agent is there just to sell. Zaneta our self catering bookings administrator will give honest advice as we'd far rather have an honest sale so that
people
have a great holiday and then consider
re booking

For 2011 we will only take direct bookings although we will retain some via
Hoseasons
as they are the leading self catering operator in the UK. As part of this we are about to roll out our own online booking system that will make the process easier, although we will always be happy to chat about our accommodation or what Jersey has to offer for a great holiday.
