Holiday Walking

Yesterday evening I had the most fantastic walk along the north coast whilst my boys were at a swimming event. With a bonus 3 hours I zipped straight north from town to white rock above Rozel Bay.

With water and a sandwich I quickly headed westwards towards Bouley Bay. It was stunning looking out to the French coast, the sea calm with several fishing boats out. It's quite a up and down section which was ideal as this weekend I'm off to "do" the West Highland Way with my son who will celebrate his 15th whilst he walks 20 miles; sorry. Straight after that I'm doing the Welsh 1000m for the final time with old Uni mates; the last 2 years of this mountain trek have been terrible with appalling weather.

This is where Jersey's dry climate is a real bonus. You can have some fantastic walks either around the Island in sections or circular walks often inland where there's always an interesting farm house to see.

After just over an hour of fast walking I hit the WW2 landing point at Petit Port which was a handy low point before turning back with a good decent hill to climb. Great walk back looking towards France most of the time. Invigorating.

You really can spend a most pleasant week walking in Jersey. The day before I did a circular walk from La Pulente over the sandunes, past the sports fields, Le Creux and Beauport before following the cliff path to Corbiere and home. Apart from a French group few people were about.

The benfits of walking here are that you are never far away from a road and a bus but it seems like you are miles away. So if you want to cut a walk short or go a wee bit further it's not a big deal.
