More than a resort 

Most resorts are built to make money. Les Ormes was built to give it away. 

Since 1989, this corner of St Brelade has been home to a holiday resort quite unlike any other in Jersey - one owned by a charitable foundation, where a share of the profits from every round of golf, family break and hour on the padel courts is reinvested straight back into the children of Jersey. 

This is the story of how a former campsite became one of the Island's most-loved resorts, and of the simple idea behind it all: that a good time here should do lasting good for the community around it. 

The beginning — 1989 

It all started with a decision to build something that would last. 

The land was originally home to the Les Quennevais Campsite. In 1989, its owner, George Bisson, transferred the campsite and the surrounding properties he owned into a new venture - Les Ormes.

In the very same year, he established The Bosdet Foundation, named in memory of his mother, whose maiden name was Bosdet. The trust was created with a single, unusual purpose: to channel the income from the land and the resort back into local causes that help those in need.

On the site of the old campsite, George opened the 9-hole Les Ormes Golf Course in 1996, and in 1998 the first tennis courts followed. 

From the very first day, Les Ormes was never only a business. It was a way of turning leisure into lasting good for the Island - a principle that still shapes every decision made here more than three decades on. 

A day-visit destination — the early years 

For its first two decades, Les Ormes was somewhere islanders came for the day: a golf course, a place to gather over food, a fixture of St Brelade life. 

In 2000, Mike Graham joined The Bosdet Foundation as General Manager and became Managing Director of Les Ormes. 

Around that time a gym and four more tennis courts were introduced, and in 2002 the original on-site restaurant opened. The site was still a modest one compared with what it would become - but there was plenty of room to grow, and that's exactly what Mike set out to do. 

A place to stay — 2008 

Everything changed in 2008, when the resort opened its first self-catering accommodation on site. 

Twenty-four lodges were built, creating a Scandinavian-village feel and aimed at holidaymakers and at local families and friends wanting a base on the Island. At last, Jersey had a genuine resort to call its own - and just as importantly, the growing number of guests meant more revenue flowing, year on year, to the causes the Foundation exists to support. 

More self-catering properties soon followed. In 2009, seven coastal properties were built down at St Ouen's Bay, along with two further resort properties, the Range Lodges. In 2012, six Terrasses were added. 

Coming of age — 2018 to today 

The last decade has been the busiest in the resort's history. 

Between 2018 and 2019, The Bosdet Foundation stepped up its giving - over £300,000 in donations to 19 Jersey charities in 2018, rising to almost £400,000 in 2019 - and a wave of investment in the resort itself soon followed. 

2019 

Jump Jersey, the on-site activity centre, opened and quickly became a year-round favourite for holidaymakers and Island families alike, with trampolines, an obstacle course, soft-play arenas and climbing walls. 

2020

Camp Bosdet was established at Les Ormes over the summer, giving a place to children affected by the Covid-19 lockdown or disadvantaged in some way - the foundation's founding purpose put directly into action. 

2021

The coastal villas, Villas De La Mer, were upgraded. 

2022

The interiors of the Coastal Cottages and The Boathouse were refreshed. 

2023

A whole new accommodation quarter opened overlooking the golf course: ten one-bedroom Golf View Apartments and two premium four-bedroom Sea View Apartments. Four electric car-charging points were installed for guests, too, as part of the resort's growing commitment to sustainability. 

2024

A new staff accommodation building and an improved housekeeping facility gave the team more space, storage and better facilities, with solar panels added to the roof. That February, a major website upgrade streamlined the guest experience and showcased just how much the resort had grown. 

2025

Les Ormes Padel was introduced, with four doubles courts. The Inflatable Arena joined Jump Jersey, giving the activity centre a fresh lease of life, and Les Ormes Pro Barbers opened, letting locals step straight off the golf course and into the barber's chair - one more reason to make Les Ormes a one-stop destination. 

2026

We doubled the size of our padel centre to eight indoor courts, including the Island's only singles court, completely renovated the gym, opened a new wellness studio, and upgraded all our premium properties with extra touches for the guests who book them. 

That momentum shows no sign of slowing - and there's further still to go. It remains our vision to be putting £1 million a year back into the local community by 2030. 

The Bosdet Foundation: the difference in every stay 

Here's the part that makes Les Ormes genuinely different. 

Because the resort is owned by The Bosdet Foundation, there are no outside shareholders and no profits leaving the Island. Every green fee, every family holiday, every padel match and every coffee in the Clubroom feeds back into a charitable trust whose whole reason for existing is the wellbeing of Jersey and its children.
