Benefits of a self-catering holiday

We might be biased, but we believe that choosing a self-catering holiday has pretty strong advantages over staying in a hotel.

FREEDOM

By staying self-catering, you are able to experience a holiday that truly allows you to connect to local culture and the environment. You are able to create a holiday your way and enjoy the freedom to come and go as you please. Set your own holiday timetable, get up when you want – isn’t that what a holiday is all about? – and no designated meal times. The beauty of a self-catering holiday is that you can do everything at your own pace, no clockwatching!

RELAX & WELLBEING

While travelling with friends, family members or children who have dietary requirements, choosing the self-catering option allows you to cook what you want, when you want. This means you can eat breakfast when you want, in fact, eat anything when you want, even feast on a midnight snack! Or you might choose to stick to a routine, especially if you are travelling with young babies and children, by preparing and storing food to have ready when hunger strikes. The same applies to the furry family members too. Having time away from your hectic schedule and choosing to spend the night in, provides you with the chance to focus your mind and reduce tension. By taking a little extra time to slow down and enjoy your meal preparations, you will find yourself getting much more out of your holiday, and fall in love with cooking again, rather than it being a daily chore.

EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY

When booking self-catering accommodation, it usually works out to be more cost-effective than a hotel, especially if you are travelling as a family or a group as you all ‘chip in’ on the cost. Eating out is a lovely experience but not every night as it can be expensive, and not always great for the waistline. By creating your own meals, you get a chance to shop for your own ingredients and sample truly authentic food of the area. This can give you some unique experiences and a better appreciation of local culture.

SPACE & FLEXIBILITY

Self-catering accommodation is usually much more spacious than hotel rooms, so it’s ideal if you are travelling with friends or family. Let's face it, just because you are travelling with friends, doesn't mean you need to spend every waking moment with them! From having space to move, flexible meal times, and of course even being able to wash your clothes, self-catering accommodation offers you so much more freedom and independence than a hotel stay ever will.
